Source and licence
Course, provider and outcome data comes from the Discover Uni dataset, published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) at hesa.ac.uk. It is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.
We have changed the data in the following ways: we combine the full-time and part-time records for the same course into one page, calculate the summary figures described below, and group subjects using HESA’s Common Aggregation Hierarchy (CAH). Regions are worked out from each provider’s postcode. We update the data when HESA publishes a new release.
The figures we show
- Student satisfaction: the average of the published National Student Survey positivity scores for the course.
- Entrants’ UCAS points: the tariff band that contains the middle (median) entrant, worked out from the published distribution of entrants’ tariff points.
- In work or further study: from the Graduate Outcomes survey, about 15 months after graduation.
- Median salary after 15 months: from the Graduate Outcomes survey.
- Median salary after 3 and 5 years: from Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) data.
- Continuation: the share of entrants still studying or qualified a year after starting.
- University and subject figures: the median of the course figures.
Some figures are not published for small courses, or are combined by HESA with similar courses or earlier years. Where data is missing we say so rather than estimate it.
What the data cannot tell you
These figures describe past students. They are a starting point for your research, not a ranking of quality. Always check current entry requirements, fees and course content on the university’s own website.
Corrections
If you think something is wrong, contact us. Errors in the underlying data need to be corrected by the university through HESA, but we will look into every report.
